Here is a chance for you to take a break and take a breath from your business and schedule. If you are working you probably are working double and triple the amount you normally do to keep income coming. If not, it could be because your industry is in a down cycle and you may not have anything to do. Be careful because you may be laid off. Your best bet is to take the time that you aren’t working and see what you can do to get yourself working.
If you are sick, relax and take a break to get better. Don’t try to drink the entire ocean through a straw, as tempting at it may be. You may get a giant squid (a Kraken) stuck in your throat. Take small sips and try to pace yourself. Things will be going slowly in terms of growth in most business markets here in the United States. Other parts of the world may not be the case and even in some industries, you may be working two jobs to cover for the person who was laid off in your department. It can’t be easy.
Count your blessings and do what you need to do to stay sharp, focused and on top of things. If you think that you are expendable, do what you need to do to try and make yourself valuable at work and at home. There are a lot of problems in households due to financial problems and strains. Try to work around them and work with your partner in trying to be fair and reasonable.
A major issue at marriage and at other times is how to handle a couple’s money. Take the time to discuss it and people work out among yourselves what is going on within your pocketbook, purse or bank account. Do it now before something dramatic happens or you alienate your spouse so much that it leads to a bitter divorce and your money will be halved for each of you. As a mediator, if I am trying to see if I can get a couple back together I remind them that together financially they are one entity. Apart they have to divide their wealth. Sometimes that at least gets them talking – and it should for you as well!
Take a break if you are moving at warp speed for your care of an elderly relative or special needs person. They need you alive and healthy so please do what you can to relax and keep yourself centered. I harp on these every few days or weeks in my blog because I need to remind myself what the important things in life are from time to time and I figured it can’t hurt for you to remember either.
Be safe, healthy and happy – and watch your money. If you don’t have an eye on it, somebody else probably will.
