Tax Crunch Countdown 03 26

Tax crunch countdown folks.  If you haven’t filed your taxes, remember that April 15 is coming up fast.  If nothing else, just file and if you need an extension get that filed as well.  You still will have to work with the IRS and respective State taxing authorities if you are going to owe them money but trust me that you aren’t the only person in that situation.  They will work with you to set up payment plans.

If you are doing complex returns and really don’t like research, please spend the extra money and blow off the tax software and go see a live tax preparer.  The tax professional can do in a couple of hours (if they know what they are doing) what you might take a couple of weeks to do and still might get wrong.  If you do have the mental chops, patience and math skills by all means do it yourself but it is getting late in the season and not a time for ego or heroics where you need to just get the darn thing filed correctly.  Okay, I am off my soapbox..

In a lighter note, AIG executives and other executives are getting taxed at 90% on their big bonuses.  There is some justice in the world.  A lot of execs are returning their bonuses as well.

California refunds are being issued and as back to normal as can be with a state that has budget problems.

Stay healthy, get wealthy, be happy and hang in there.
